info

The GT40 is the mythical endurance race car of the manufacturer Ford. Built in less than 130 units between 1964 and 1968, it allowed the American company to win many races, including 4 successive editions of the "24 Heures du Mans" from 1966 to 1969. The name GT40 comes from the initials of Grand Touring and the number 40 refers to the height of the body which is 40 inches, or 1.02 m.

Mounted on a tubular chassis, the general construction, especially the bodywork, is true to the original dimensions. The suspension is also based on the original. The block that equips this racing beast is a V8 of 5683 cc that develops about 450 hp, fed by a Holley carburetor. The gearbox is from a Porsche 944. Disc brakes are mounted at the front and rear. An electric fuel pump is installed.
The car weighs only 1100 kg.

The model we offer for sale was built by Bailey Cars. The company is recognized as one of the best builders of replicas of the original car. All of the details that made the GT40 an icon have been recreated to ensure a package that is true to its heritage. This unit was a private car of the Bailey company, which engaged it in a few successful races.
